Aegis Defender Subscriber Terms

Last updated: September 16, 2026

1. Agreement and scope

These Subscriber Terms (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you or the organization you represent (“Subscriber,” “you,” or “your”) and Aegis Cyber Defense Systems, Inc. (“Aegis,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your purchase, download, installation, access to, and use of Aegis Defender and related software, documentation, support, updates, and services (collectively, the “Service”).

By selecting Subscribe, purchasing a plan, accepting these Terms, downloading the software, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you accept on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it. If you do not agree, do not purchase, install, or use the Service.

These Terms supplement the Aegis Privacy Policy, product documentation, order confirmation, and any plan-specific terms presented at checkout. If a signed order conflicts with these Terms, the signed order controls for that conflict.

2. Eligibility and account security

You must be legally able to enter a contract. You are responsible for accurate account information, protecting credentials and license keys, limiting access to authorized personnel, and all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access.

3. Subscription plans, trials, and renewal

Your order identifies the plan, subscription term, number of protected servers or other usage limits, price, taxes, and any trial period. A subscription begins when the order is accepted or the software is activated, whichever occurs first.

Unless your order says otherwise, a subscription renews for the same billing interval until cancelled. Before charging, the checkout flow will disclose the renewal price or how it is calculated. You authorize Aegis and its payment processor to charge the selected payment method for recurring fees, taxes, and authorized add-ons.

Cancel through the account or billing method provided at checkout, or contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Cancellation stops future renewals and normally leaves access active through the paid term. We will not make cancellation harder than enrollment. A trial converts to a paid subscription only where the checkout disclosure and your consent authorize that conversion.

4. Fees, taxes, and refunds

Fees are due in advance. You are responsible for applicable sales, use, value-added, or similar taxes, excluding taxes on Aegis's net income. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend the affected subscription after reasonable notice.

Refunds, if any, are governed by the refund terms shown at checkout or in your order. Except where required by law or expressly stated in those terms, prepaid fees are non-refundable. Contact us promptly about duplicate charges, unauthorized charges, or billing errors.

5. License and permitted use

Subject to payment and compliance with these Terms, Aegis grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license during the subscription term to install and use the applicable Aegis Defender software on the authorized number and type of systems identified in your plan. You may make reasonable backup copies of installer materials, provided all proprietary notices remain intact.

Aegis is intended to complement existing security controls on compatible internet-facing Linux systems. Features, supported distributions, resource requirements, and plan limits are described in the current documentation. You are responsible for system administration, backups, change control, and verifying suitability in your environment.

6. Prohibited use

You may not: (a) resell, sublicense, rent, lease, share, or provide the Service to a third party except as your plan expressly permits; (b) copy, modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code except where applicable law expressly permits; (c) remove notices or bypass license, activation, access, or usage controls; (d) use the Service to violate law, compromise systems without authorization, or interfere with another person's systems; (e) use the Service to create a competing product or service; or (f) upload malware or content that unlawfully exposes another person's confidential or personal information.

7. Security actions and operational responsibility

Aegis may analyze configured logs, events, network indicators, and system state and may recommend or perform configured defensive actions such as alerts, exact-IP blocks, firewall changes, or other enforcement. You control deployment, policy, allowlists, exclusions, credentials, and enforcement settings. Review and test policies before enabling enforcement.

No security product prevents every intrusion, outage, false positive, false negative, or data loss. Aegis does not replace backups, patching, identity controls, incident response, network segmentation, professional security review, or your legal and regulatory obligations. Do not rely on Aegis alone for medical devices, safety systems, PLCs, SCADA, industrial controls, weapons systems, classified systems, or other life-critical or operational-technology environments unless a written agreement expressly states otherwise.

8. Data, telemetry, and privacy

Aegis processes account, license, support, diagnostic, and security-event information needed to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the Service. Depending on your configuration, telemetry may include IP addresses, timestamps, event types, host or service metadata, and enforcement outcomes. Configure collection and retention consistent with your policies and applicable law.

You retain rights in data you submit or generate (“Subscriber Data”). You grant Aegis a limited license to host, process, transmit, and use Subscriber Data only to provide, secure, support, troubleshoot, measure, and improve the Service, enforce these Terms, and comply with law. Aegis may use aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you or a person for security intelligence and product analytics.

You must not submit protected health information, payment-card data, classified information, or other regulated data unless the parties have first agreed in writing to the required safeguards and terms. The Privacy Policy explains additional processing and rights.

9. Updates, support, and third-party services

We may release updates, security fixes, compatibility changes, and documentation updates. Some updates may be necessary for security or continued operation. You authorize reasonable update checks and delivery consistent with your plan and configuration.

The Service may interoperate with operating systems, hosting providers, payment processors, reputation databases, cloud services, and other third-party systems. Third-party systems are governed by their own terms. Aegis is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or changes.

10. Ownership and feedback

Aegis and its licensors own the Service, software, documentation, designs, trademarks, and improvements. These Terms grant only the license expressly stated. You retain ownership of Subscriber Data. If you provide feedback, you grant Aegis a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use it without restriction, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.

11. Confidentiality

Each party may receive non-public information from the other. The receiving party will use reasonable care, use it only for the business relationship, and disclose it only to personnel and service providers who need it and are bound to protect it. These duties do not apply to information that is public, independently developed, already known without restriction, or lawfully received from another source. A party may disclose information when legally required after giving notice where permitted.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or limit the Service to address nonpayment, a security threat, unlawful use, or a material breach, using reasonable notice when practical. Either party may terminate for a material breach that remains uncured for 30 days after written notice, unless a shorter period is reasonably necessary for security or law.

When a subscription ends, your license ends and you must stop using and uninstall the Service, except that you may retain copies required by law. Sections concerning fees owed, ownership, confidentiality, data, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, dispute resolution, and miscellaneous terms survive.

13. Warranty disclaimer

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” AEGIS DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE. AEGIS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, COMPLETE, OR THAT EVERY THREAT WILL BE DETECTED OR BLOCKED.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AEGIS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, GOODWILL, OR DATA. AEGIS'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE FEES YOU PAID OR OWE FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

15. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify Aegis and its officers, employees, and agents against third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the Service, breach of these Terms, or infringement of another person's rights. We will promptly notify you of a claim and may participate in its defense. You may not settle a claim imposing an admission, obligation, or restriction on Aegis without our written consent.

16. Changes and service availability

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and changing the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or account email where required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms. We may modify, discontinue, or limit features, but will use reasonable efforts to provide notice of material changes affecting paid subscribers.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, the parties will try in good faith to resolve it by written notice and discussion. Any permitted court action will be brought in state or federal courts located in New Hampshire, and each party consents to that jurisdiction and venue. Choose and confirm whether a consumer arbitration clause, class-action waiver, or small-claims exception is appropriate before publishing.

18. General terms

Neither party is liable for delay caused by events beyond reasonable control. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent, except in a permitted sale or reorganization of your business. Aegis may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, reorganization, or sale of the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest remains effective. These Terms do not create a partnership, agency, employment, or joint venture. A waiver must be written and applies only to the instance stated.
